Cartoon – The First Steps To Success!

January 27, 2009

Here’s an excerpt from Ryan Blair’s 100 Day Challenge – the cartoon is mine and doesn’t appear in the transcript…

We all know that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and the same holds true for the 100 Day Challenge.
The goal choices you make today set the pace (fast) as well as the tone (playing to win), and the actions you take today determine both your direction and destiny.
To ensure a good start, you must take that bold first step, you must identify three achievable goals and you must pursue victory throughout the day. You must start the day fast and finish the day strong.
You must have the conviction that the purpose of setting a goal must be to achieve it, as there is no purer form of success, no more exact and exacting test of what you are capable of than to seize every opportunity, and achieve everything you set out to do.

The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one!                                                                                                                                       Mark Twain- Celebrated American author and humorist

Cartoon – STOMP THOSE ANTS!

January 20, 2009

STOMP THOSE ANTS!

Psychiatrist Daniel G. Amen has named the limiting thoughts we hear in our
head ANTs – Automatic Negative Thoughts. And just like real ants at a picnic, your ANTS can ruin your experience of life. Dr.Amen recommends that you learn to STOMP the ANTs.  First you have to become aware of them; next you have to shake them off and stomp them by challenging them. Finally you have to replace them with more positive and affirming thoughts!

C is for COURAGE

C is for COURAGE

Here’s the third in the series of A – Z of Positive Thinking. With a few COURAGE quotes…

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.            Alan Cohen

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.                                   Eleanor Roosevelt

Courage is the discovery that you may not win, and trying when you know you can lose. Tom Krause

Cartoon to illustrate – Taking Meaningful Action to Get What You Want!

January 9, 2009

I came across this proverb and immediately had this idea come to mind…

An old proverb epitomizes the wait-and-see mentality of many people: “Man who stand on top of mountain with mouth open wait long time for roast turkey to fly in!”

It's going to be a LONG WAIT!

It's going to be a LONG WAIT!

So the point here is TAKE ACTION – no matter how small, as long it is in the direction you want to go!

B is for BELIEF!

B is for BELIEF!

B is for BELIEF!

A while ago I posted A is for Action – then totally forgot about the others I had on file. So I’m digging them out and will be posting them over the next few days. These were from a small collections of cartoons I did for a magazine here in the UK years ago called SUCCESS TODAY , it was short lived and folded before I got to the letter ‘I’. Shame – I loved that magazine!

Here’s a few BELIEF quotes that I liked:

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. Anatole France

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true. [paraphrased] Buddha

Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe. Gail Devers

‘If I don’t use it then I’ll lose it.’

This is one of around 100 short pieces that Peter Sinclair wrote and I illustrated with cartoons from a book titled: Smile Your Way Yo Success!

Limbs encased in plaster and then suddenly released from their dark enclosure need a lot of exercise before they can get back into normal operation. So too are your talents, your mind and your imagination if you for some reason have neglected them. Many dreams have passed on with their owners to the grave through lack of use, but yet you can breathe fresh life into yours by rehearsing them in your mind and by living them out in your daily affairs. Once you have identified your strengths, then strengthen them through consistent use. By doing this you will not lose. You will win.
