Ask yourself – Am I doing more than expected?

Ask yourself – Am I providing my employer with excellence rather than mediocrity?

“11 Reasons Why You Will Never Succeed” By Gary Vurnum PART 11

June 22, 2009

REASON # 11 – You have something that you have
always wanted to do, but never got around to doing
it. And you know you never will.

I always wanted to do what I am doing now…I just didn’t
realise it.

Now I am fulfilling my dream, against all the odds. Many
people I know wish that they could do this…or do that…
but they always somehow find an excuse why they can’t.

Everybody has an interest, hobby, or skill that they could
happily get lost in for a few hours. If you think that you
may not…you are probably not thinking hard enough!

The key to finding out what it is you really love to do is
to ask yourself this question –

“What thing would you happily pay to be able to do?”

If “watch TV” is the answer…you’ll have to try harder!

Sometimes…you may not even realise that you are doing it.
For example…I have a good friend of mine who is a good
talker…he could strike up a conversation with a passer-by
within 2 seconds of meeting them. It’s a talent that comes
naturally to him.

To me…he’s an ideal

– Network marketer
– Salesman
– Real estate agent

Or any number of occupations where “relationshipping” is the
key to getting on and being successful.

If he worked in one of those fields…I am sure that he
would be a success. Instead…he just ‘treads water’ in a
job that pays him well but he gets nothing from it.

All he needs is a job where he gets paid to talk!

Look into how you might be able to make a living from your
talent. Someone, somewhere must make money doing something
similar to what you like to do.

Make sure that if you really want to do something, turn the
‘but’ into a ‘how’ and go for it!

REASON # 10 – You worry what your family and
friends would think about you if you read or listened
to self-development material.

Im going to be one...a SUCCESS!

I'm going to be one...a SUCCESS!

I was always embarrassed about reading self-development
books on the train into work.

That was until I realised who was still going to be on the
same train in five years time, and I knew it wasn’t going to
be me!

I still get raised eyebrows from my family, but I will be
the one who is smiling when I achieve what I know that I can
achieve. Only this evening…my sister laughed out loud when
I told her that my eBook was called “The Science of Success”

But…at least I am doing what I want to do.

I take my personal development seriously.

Others may ridicule you…or laugh behind your back…but
they will be the jealous ones when you reach your dream…
and they are still stuck in never-never land!

So the moral of the story is…

Do what you want to do with your life…and not what others
say you should do.

REASON # 6 – You believe that you should enjoy
life whilst you can.

So you might get run over by a car tomorrow…but the
chances are you won’t.

Thanks to advances in healthcare, you could well be
retired longer than you worked for. Never let your
borrowings grow old with you; pay them off as soon as you
can.

What is the biggest cause of arguments between married
couples? Money.

What is the biggest cause of the poor getting poorer and
the rich getting richer? Abuse of money.

Have you noticed that the most addictive substances are
those that have to be replaced again and again?

– Alcohol
– Cigarettes
– Drugs

I would put money firmly in the same category. The
people who want more money the most…go out of their
way to dispose of it and get the thrill as quickly as
they can.
Rich and successful people look after their money.
They nurture it, so that it reproduces and grows. Poor
people waste it.
If you spent $3 every working day on a coffee instead
of putting the money towards paying off a credit card
…then you would be almost $6,500 worse off after 5
years!!!
Just for having a coffee!
I hope that these steps have helped you realise that
it’s the little things that make a difference!

REASON # 2 – You can never imagine yourself as a success.

Successful people always have a vision of where they want to
be in the future.

Can you imagine yourself living the life of luxury in Monte
Carlo or on a yacht in the Caribbean?

Didn’t think you could.

Most people (apart from the successful ones) have a vision
of under-achievement. They never believe that they could
possibly be millionaires, or live a life like a famous role
model.

I call this “Oh Well” thinking. You always hear yourself say
“Oh Well…it will never happen for me” or “Oh Well…she’s
luckier than me anyway”.

Think like a winner…and you will become a winner.

Look at the example of one of the greatest boxers of all
time – Muhammad Ali. You probably remember his catchphrase.
The thing was…he even said it when he was starting out and
was plain old Cassius Clay…

Building success cartoon!

April 23, 2009

I did this cartoon years ago – before computers(It’s in watercolour!) for a company in the UK. They produced water meters and I made the word ‘Success’ up of drawings of actual meters. It was the illustrate the point:

“Quality is everyone’s business”
We all contribute to the success of our business.
We all can contribute to making it better.

Recently someone saw this cartoon on my Cartoon Studio web site and asked me to update/redraw it….

Building Success one brick at a time!

Building Success one brick at a time!

Here are a few quotes on ‘building success’….

“Every success is built on the ability to do better than good enough” – Unknown

“I think this team has done a good job, even when we were losing last year, of forgetting about the game before, … This team is really resilient. Right now, we’re just building on success.” – Jay Cutler

Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm. – Winston Churchill

Dream + Hard Work = Success!

April 22, 2009

I had a client who wanted me to produce a design for a t-shirt. Dream + Hard Work = Success. I did this sketch and he liked it very much. The next stage would be to trace over this and then colour it up to complete. But he just disappeared off the face of the Earth! Thought I might as well make use of it. Might even do my own t-shirts!?

Cartoon to illustrate Motivational Quote!

March 24, 2009

“Remember, success is not measured by heights attained but by obstacles overcome. We’re going to pass through many obstacles in our lives: good days, bad days. But the successful person will overcome those obstacles and constantly move forward.”

Bruce Jenner

Motivational cartoon – The Brink of Failure or the Brink of SUCCESS!?

February 16, 2009

I was scanning through one of Napolean Hill’s book over the weekend and this quote inspired me to draw this cartoon…

No man ever achieved worthwhile success who did not, at one time or other, find himself with at least one foot hanging well over the brink of failure. – Napoleon Hill

The Brink of Failure or the Brink of SUCCESS!?

The Brink of Failure or the Brink of SUCCESS!?

Here’s a couple more ‘failure’ quotes that I liked…

Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.– Denis Waitley

One of the reasons mature people stop learning is that they become less and less willing to risk failure. – Author Unknown

God’s call to motivational cartoons service!

February 6, 2009

We have learned that God’s call to service doesn’t always mean full-time work in missions or ministry; it just means full-time service to God wherever we are. Did I hear God’s call? Did I feel it? Is it in a still, small voice? Is it a dramatic event? Or is it just a feeling? I believe it can be all of the above.

I saw this image in my mind years ago…

God is calling me!

God is calling me!

That’s why I love to draw cartoons!
