Women Working Together – cartoon!

April 30, 2009

Hi,
I was just looking through my filing cabinets(I’ve got three full of cartoons I’ve done over the last 25 years – I hardly ever go into them nowadays because of the computer!) for something to put on here.
I can across this cartoon I did for my local Chamber Of Commerce.

The brief was to illustrate ‘You can climb higher with help and support of others’

It must be over 20 years since I did this and probably one of my first ever commissions for motivational cartoons! My style has changed quite a bit too!

Women Working Together!

Women Working Together!

Here’s a few ‘Working Together’ quotes…

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” Henry Ford

“The best teamwork comes from men and women who are working independently toward one goal in unison.” James Cash Penney

“Together we aspire, together we achieve.”- found on trinidad’s coat of arms

“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” – Andrew Carnegie: Quotes on Teamwork

I’ll see what else I can find in that cabinet!

Taking Action! Quotes

April 29, 2009

Here are some of my ‘action’ quotes – hope you like them and the cartoon!?

Well done is better than well said.  – Benjamin Franklin

The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing – Albert Einstein

Action = Success

Action = Success

We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action. – Frank Tibolt

An idea not coupled with action will never get any bigger than the brain cell it occupied.  – Arnold Glasow

Remember, people will judge you by your actions, not your intentions.  You may have a heart of gold – but so does a hard-boiled egg.  – Author Unknown

I’m being NEGATIVE….helllllp!

April 28, 2009

It’s just dawned on me this morning that I’m being totally negative! I’ve had sore knees for some months now – I don’t know if this is just wear and tear after all these years of playing football/soccer and squash.(I’m 55 in July and I’m trying to keep active as long as possible!)

I’ve only just realized that when I play a game I’m moaning about my injuries and telling friends I’m ‘on my way out’ ‘hanging my boots up’ etc. What am I doing? I’m being so negative! Last year I said I was taking up golf so as not to put any more strain on my knees and forget the footy and squash. And although I really got into the game I have drifted back to my favourite sports. But the reason for recent bad games/results is down to my negative thinking. I’m slipping down the squash leagues, players you I had previously thrashed are now beating me. I’m feeling really sorry for myself and looking for attention. Well, from today I’m stopping this decline! I’ll keep you informed.

In the meantime here’s a cartoon I drew some time ago that helps illustrate the above….

Believe You Can and you can!

Believe You Can and you can!

I read this from Joe Vitale’s ezine this morning and it stopped me dead in my tracks and force me to pull myself together…

If you want to attract money, for example, see
yourself already wealthy, feel the joy of helping
yourself and others with the money, and repeat
this in your mind as much as its fun to do so.

By doing this you will “brand” your mind with the
new you. Once it takes hold (which can be very
fast), and you act on your ideas, you will begin
to attract money.

The lesson here is this: to change yourself you
need to use imagery, emotion, and repetition. Do
all three and virtually anything is possible.

Change Your Self-Talk With AFFIRMATIONS!

April 27, 2009

CHANGE YOUR SELF-TALK WITH AFFIRMATIONS!

I’ve always believed in magic. When I wasn’t doing anything in this town, I’d go up every night, sit on Mulholland Drive, look out at the city, stretch out my arms, and say, “Everybody wants to work with me I’m a really good actor. I have all kinds of great movie offers.” I’d just repeat these things over and over, literally convincing myself that I had a couple of movies lined up, I’d drive down that hill, ready to take the world on, going, “Movie offers are out there for me, I just don’t hear them yet. lt was like total affirmations, antidotes to the stuff that stems from my family background.
JIM CARREY Actor

I’ve added some new designs to my Motivational Mobile and Cellphone Wallpapers web page – these are like ‘affirmations for your mobile/cellphone!

Susan Boyle dreamed a dream!

April 24, 2009

Have you been watching Britain’s Got Talent?
Susan Boyle, has captured the world’s attention.
In case you’ve missed it, she’s a 47-year-old unemployed charity
worker who lives with her cat in a small village in Scotland.
Susan Boyle is a phenomenal role model for all of us, not just
because of her talent or her courage or her perseverance or her
supportive friends. She is a phenomenal role model for us
because she is us, in all our awkward ordinariness and amazing
extraordinariness.
Some say she’s an overnight success – but she has been practicing     her singing since she was 12 years old – so it’s actually overnight is 35 years!

Her YouTube video has received 50,000,000 hits – I’m thinking
of asking her to appear on my web site!!

Susan Boyle had a dream – so can you!

If you can dream it you can achieve it!

If you can dream it you can achieve it!

Building success cartoon!

April 23, 2009

I did this cartoon years ago – before computers(It’s in watercolour!) for a company in the UK. They produced water meters and I made the word ‘Success’ up of drawings of actual meters. It was the illustrate the point:

“Quality is everyone’s business”
We all contribute to the success of our business.
We all can contribute to making it better.

Recently someone saw this cartoon on my Cartoon Studio web site and asked me to update/redraw it….

Building Success one brick at a time!

Building Success one brick at a time!

Here are a few quotes on ‘building success’….

“Every success is built on the ability to do better than good enough” – Unknown

“I think this team has done a good job, even when we were losing last year, of forgetting about the game before, … This team is really resilient. Right now, we’re just building on success.” – Jay Cutler

Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm. – Winston Churchill

Dream + Hard Work = Success!

April 22, 2009

I had a client who wanted me to produce a design for a t-shirt. Dream + Hard Work = Success. I did this sketch and he liked it very much. The next stage would be to trace over this and then colour it up to complete. But he just disappeared off the face of the Earth! Thought I might as well make use of it. Might even do my own t-shirts!?

Playing to your strengths cartoon!

April 21, 2009

I did a few cartoons on ‘Playing to your Strengths’ for a UK based company. Here’s one I liked but they thought the football/soccer theme didn’t quite match their web site theme. I’m currently working on two they went for and will post a link to their site shortly.

Playing to your strengths!

Playing to your strengths!

Here’s a few quotes I found while researching…

“A true friend knows your weaknesses but shows you your strengths; feels your fears but fortifies your faith; sees your anxieties but frees your spirit; recognizes your disabilities but emphasizes your possibilities.” – William Arthur Ward

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will.” – Vince Lombardi

“Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle…” – Napoleon Hill

Overcoming Obstacles!

April 20, 2009

I have quite a few obstacles that are causing me some grief at the moment. So instead of buckling it to them I decided face them head on. Here’s a few quotes that helped me get my head around them…

Most of our obstacles would melt away if, instead of cowering before them, we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them.  – Orison Swett Marden

Overcoming Obstacles!

Overcoming Obstacles!

Press on. Obstacles are seldom the same size tomorrow as they are today.- Robert H. Schuller

Life’s up and downs provide windows of opportunity to determine your values and goals. Think of using all obstacles as stepping stones to build the life you want. – Marsha Sinetar

If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.- Frank A. Clark

It still holds true that man is most uniquely human when he turns obstacles into opportunities.   – Eric Hoffer

History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.- B. C. Forbes

Focused – quotes!

April 17, 2009

You have to be focused – you have to have laser like focus to drive you forward!

My success, part of it certainly, is that I have focused in on a few things.
Bill Gates

Along with a strong belief in your own inner voice, you also need laser-like focus combined with unwavering determination.

Larry Flynt

I'm focused! I'm coming through no matter what!

I'm focused! I'm coming through no matter what!

Success depends on getting good at saying no without feeling guilty. You cannot get ahead with your own goals if you are always saying yes to someone else’s projects. You can only get ahead with your desired lifestyle if you are focused on the things that will produce that lifestyle. – Jack Canfield
